| From Pete: "Once again a former bassist has left the room. Jeff Clyne, who died recently, was a great musician and terrific bloke. We worked together in the New Departures jazz/poetry group for several years, but I was also a big fan of his work and would often go to see him play. I also remember him composing a really great piece which the ND group featured, called I think 'The haunted jazz club' . May all jazz clubs continue to be haunted by him and his many pupils."
A brief update: The record "Road of Cobras" should now be released in Europe around the end of April. Gigs are being planned to coincide with the release. "Cobras" should appear in Britain a little later, probably May, hopefully followed by the release of the autobiography, still provisionally called "White rooms and Imaginary Westerns". There will also be a new book of poems next year as well as a new poetry date at the Glasgow Book Fest in March, details to be announced. Phil Ryan and Pete have just been producing tracks by the wonderful young soul singer Andriah. Paul Camilleri's record, "Just what you wanted", has just been released in Switzerland, produced by Paul and Pete and also with lyrics by Pete. The Mandrakes' record, "Bust and Boom," will now be released in January. |
